Um ônibus capotou na madrugada deste domingo (28) no Tocantins, levando sete passageiros à morte e ferindo outras 11 pessoas, informou a Polícia Militar do Estado. O acidente ocorreu na BR-040, próximo à cidade de Novo Jardim.
De acordo com a PM, o motorista da viação Real Maia relatou que dirigia da Bahia para o Tocantins quando, ao cruzar em um trevo, houve falha nos freios do veículo. Ele não conseguiu controlar ao fazer uma curva e o ônibus tombou.
Policiais encontraram sete mortos quando chegaram ao local. Bombeiros tiveram que retirar duas pessoas das ferragens. Três mortos foram identificados, ainda que sua identidade não tenha sido revelada. Outras quatro pessoas ainda não tinham sido identificadas em razão dos ferimentos.
O condutor se apresentou na delegacia. Segundo a PM, o veículo estava regular segundo o código de trânsito brasileiro.
Procurado, o Corpo de Bombeiros ainda não retornou à reportagem. De acordo com o site G1, uma das vítimas fatais era uma funcionária do Banco do Empreendedor do Tocantins.
