O pedreiro Antônio Marcos Rodrigues de Souza, de 34 anos, foi morto na manhã desta segunda-feira (7) quando tentava defender uma mulher desconhecida de um assalto. O crime aconteceu por volta das 7h na Avenida Mato Grosso, uma das mais movimentadas de Campo Grande. Antônio foi morto na frente do pai, que acompanhou tudo do outro lado da avenida, com golpes de tesoura.
Antônio seguia para o trabalho de bicicleta na companhia do pai – os dois são pedreiros- quando viu a moça sendo assaltada. Ele atravessou a rua para ajudá-la e levou uma tesourada no pescoço. Do outro lado da avenida, o pai assistiu a tudo, sem poder fazer nada.
O Corpo de Bombeiros foi acionado, mas ele acabou morrendo no local. A rua foi fechada pela polícia e a perícia vai até o local.
Insegurança
Duas mulheres que faziam o mesmo caminho de Antônio afirmaram ao Jornal Midiamax que sempre viam Antônio no mesmo horário descer a Mato Grosso a caminho do trabalho.
Rosângela Paes de 59 anos disse que na região existem muitos usuários de drogas e moradores de rua, e que acha muito perigoso o local. “Aqui é bem inseguro e tenho medo quando passo por aqui”, contou.

Dias antes dessa tragédia, a mãe de Antônio morreu de câncer.
